Spring Break Fun

GROW!!!

So spring might be on it's way (even though it has snowed/rained nearly non-stop for the last three days)  I got some colorful pots and planted some herbs.  Hopefully they will grow.  I really do like to garden, but haven't done alot of it the last couple of years, because we were always waiting on something to be done with the house/yard.  The kids and I planted the garden boxes a few weeks ago and I am so excited, because this is the first year that I will have water for those early spring veggies that I like thanks to my husbands ingenious plan to collect, store and pump water.  When our secondary water does get turned on in mid-May I just have to flip a valve and I can fill the tanks with that.  It makes it so that I can water anytime instead of just the two days a week that we have a water turn.  This makes me happy :)

So in a last minute rush I was able to somehow find a 4-door Jeep to rent with all the lift and lockers and swaybar disconnects that Paul likes AND since nearly all of our extra money is going to home addition and renovation projects our friends graciously invited us to share their condo.  Unfortunatly my Natalie got the flu and we felt like we needed to cancel and not expose everyone to the Flu.  There was alot of dissappointment, but hopefully we will be able to come up with some fun things to do.

Feeling Very Blessed

Today I am feeling very blessed to be alive and well.  I took my Mom down to Orem yesterday because she had a doctors appointment.  I went shopping a little with my sister and then we all met my cousin at a restaurant for Lunch.  The food was good, and we had a nice time together and we all agreed that we should get together more often for lunch.  The drive home was pleasant and I was enjoying the conversation.  In Salt Lake I was in the lane next to the HOV lane and there were three lanes to the right of me.  I had a feeling that I should slow down a little and ,of course, half a dozen annoyed motorists passed me.  I wondered if I should  move toward the outside lanes, but then I thought "No, stay in this lane".  Then all of the sudden the front passenger tire blew and sheared off and went to the left.  There was no one in the HOV lane for half a mile or so in both directions and  so no one got hit by my tire and where it happened there was a stretch of emergency pull off and I got right over and stopped just fine. The guy behind me pulled over and helped me change the tire, but he kept saying that my van should have rolled and that I was lucky.  I'm still counting my blessings, though and am very thankful to the guy who stopped to help even though he was wearing a suit.

Promise of Spring

Today it is warm... well not anything close to being hot, but close to 60 degrees after a long winter is warm.  The tulips are just beginning to poke out of the ground and there is hope in the air.  Those first few warm days are so full of hope.  Hope for something better, hope for things to come.
