Cool Sneakers

A couple of months ago I let my daughter try on a pair of Converse All Star sneakers.  She has very long narrow feet and we are always looking for shoes that won't slide right off as she walks.  She tried on a pair of dark grey ones and insisted that they fit and that she would wear them.  I was a little skeptical because there is a pair of Anne Klein  heels  somewhere in her room that she has said the same thing about.    I caved in, though and bought them, sure that they would get lost in her closet.

  The have become her favorite shoes over the last few months, and she makes it a point to tell me when she see's someone in Pop culture wearing them.

Gary Lightbody- Snow Patrol

Paul and I went shopping earlier this week for some "cool" clothes to wear to the Snow Patrol concert.  My feet were killing me after walking all over the place in heels so we went to Ross and found me a pair for $24 and my feet thanked me and cooperated for the rest of the day.

So I was with the kids doing some spring/summer clothes shopping  and it was decided that Converse were cool and that all of my kids wanted a pair, after all MOM even had a pair now.

Everyone is feeling cool and hip in their new sneakers, but to show the kids that these sneakers weren't all that new I showed them a photo of my parents... with their Grandpa rockin' a pair of All star's too.

Fun Luncheon

Bought a stack of lunch trays at a local thrift store for a school lunch themed  party.

As a member of a local DUP chapter every year or two it is my turn to host a monthly meeting.  I had hoped that our remodel would be done so that I could show it off, but things don't always go as planned.  At the urging of some of the ladies, I went ahead and hosted it in my home that is still very much under remodeling construction.  My husband worked hard to get enough of the flooring so that I could make a sitting area.  I love to come up with fun Ideas, so when I was shopping at a local thrift store and spied a stack of lunch trays I thought it would be fun to use them  (and fun when I have grand-kids too)

Update on the Kitchen/Familyroom

We are finally to a point that the work on the house is actually something that you can see (can I tell you just how much I hate wiring and plumbing???)  It's all about instant gratification things like paint and flooring!

Wedding Rush

My older brother has been divorced for quite a lot of years and has been busy working, raising his kids, doing the joint custody thing, but there was something missing from his life.  He was lonely.  Fortunately, he met a wonderful, talented lady to whom he proposed at Christmas.  There was paperwork and clearances to get through, so here is their very flexible wedding announcement.

To everyone's surprise, the Temple clearance went through last Friday March 24th and so we had just days to get ready for a wedding, but we were up to the task.  Mom re-used the decorations from her Relief Society Birthday dinner the night before, and many of the sisters in her ward pitched in and helped with the food and setting things up.  Who knew that you could rent a room at the Logan Library??? I do have to admit that everything was really nice, and it was great not to have to spend months worrying about all of the details.

I Survived Prom

Nearly a month ago my oldest daughter thought that she just might get asked to Prom.  To most mothers this would just mean a few extra hours at the mall to find a dress, shoes, and accessories.  It just isn't that simple at our house.  You see, I have tall kids, and my daughter is 6'1" and built like a runway model.  (Which you would think would make it easy to find a dress, but no)

I began scouring the internet for dresses that were long enough as well as relatively modest and tasteful and started a new board on my Pinterest dedicated to Prom.  In short, the hunt was on.  My husband couldn't help but notice my new obsession and he decided offer his "superior"  internet searching skills in my quest.  After several hours he had narrowed the choices down to a handful of dresses that he would be willing to buy for his daughter.  His criteria was mostly that it had to be modest as well as classy.  No foofy fluffy dress for Nicole.  More the red carpet look.  I think he has great taste in womens clothes, so I went along with it. We ended up going to Nordstroms in Salt lake to find the one that we got, but it was so long she even needed heels.  (another "hunt" for 12 Narrow dancing shoes).

They went to Salt Lake Hoggle Zoo for their  "Day Date" (I don't remember ever going on day dates before dances, but it is what they do now)  Upon returning home I had about an hour to completely re-do makeup and hair and turn my daughter into a princess (ok not Disney... more like Kate Middleton).  I have to admit that it was probably as much fun for me as it was for her, but she looked gorgeous when she went out the door for a magical evening and I felt like a fairy Godmother.
